With its vast open beach and a spacious car park, Dunwich attracts visitors seeking diverse activities. Despite the inevitable summer bustle, the beach remains an inviting destination. The area offers a well-regarded cafe/restaurant conveniently located by the car park, complemented by a practical toilet block. For those seeking more dining options, the Ship pub is a brief one-minute stroll into the village. Additionally, a cliff-top walk through the woods not only provides captivating views in both directions but also grants access to the historic Abby ruins.

Nestled on the Suffolk coast, Dunwich Beach is a picturesque retreat with a beautiful stretch of predominantly shingle/stone coastline. The wide expanses and cliffs on one side create an ideal setting for leisurely walks along the shore. Particularly delightful for dog owners, the beach offers a scenic environment for furry friends to enjoy.

Dog Restrictions

Enjoy the company of your four-legged friends throughout the year, as Dunwich Beach imposes no dog restrictions. However, visitors are kindly reminded to be mindful of seals and birds in the area.

Toilet Facilities

Public toilets are conveniently located at the beach car park, operating from 6 am to 8 pm in the summer (Easter to October) and from 7 am to 5:30 pm in the winter (October to Easter). Disabled and baby changing facilities available here.

Car Parking

A large car park behind the beach (Postcode: IP17 3EN) provides ample parking space, and the best part is that it's free. While visitors are not obligated to pay, a donation to local charities is encouraged, showing appreciation for the surrounding community.

Lifeguard Patrol

There are no lifeguard patrols at this beach, so caution is advised while bathing or swimming.
